Snow, snow, and more snow!

Holy crap! Global warming is gonna kill us all! Somebody please tag Al Gore in these images of Tommy, Holly, and Moses that we were able to take during our Midwest excursion. In case you have missed our million posts about it, we packed up and headed to Kansas for a little over a month. Tommy was crazy enough to drive all the way to Atlanta, pick us up, and travel down to Louisiana before winding up in Kansas. While in Louisiana, the three of us had a few sessions in the beautiful 70 degree weather. Then, we stopped in every city along the way for Tommy to take portraits of us as we passed through. Since Tommy did such an amazing job on our portraits, we wanted to photograph the Peterson clan as well. Luckily enough, they were able to get a “light dusting” of snow to play in for their family portraits. When I tell you that their photos turned out SICK!!… I really mean we all ended up sick from being outside! haha. Strobist Snow Portraits in a Scranton, Kansas blizzard.

The Details Since we’ve been in Kansas, we’ve haven’t had a lot of free time to share any of our progress via our blog or social media outlets, but the requests to see some photos keep rolling in, nonetheless! So, without further adieu, here are a few strobist snow portraits we took in Scranton — a small town near Topeka, Kansas with a few Alienbee B800s, Vagabond minis, a Paul C Buff cyber commander, Canon 5D Mkiii, 70-200 f2.8 L, 24x36in softbox, and a standard 7in cone. (Not to mention a few plastic, grocery store bags draped over our lights to shield them from the snow!) Enjoy! The Full Story So while in Kansas working with T.H. Peterson Photography, we got about 10-12 inches of snow overnight with very little notice. Of course being a group of photographers, we all wanted to do a portrait of someone in the snow! But the question was, how in the world were we supposed to drive anywhere or have anyone get to us? The roads were completely covered and the snow was still coming down.
